Now more than ever, grocery delivery services have been in high demand due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. There are many different services to choose from, but here are a couple to get you started. These applications are available for both Androids and iPhones along with web access on your computer or other device.
Many grocery stores also allow you to shop and schedule delivery or arrange curbside pickup from their websites or apps. Check online at your favorite grocery store site to search the store’s delivery and pickup options.
- Instacart
One phone app is called, Instacart or it can be accessed at Instacart.com. It allows you to shop for groceries from a wide variety of stores. You’re able to select your items along with specifying the quantity, then your groceries are delivered the same day by a personal shopper. You also have the option of leaving “special instructions” for your shopper (i.e., ‘Please pick ripe bananas. Thank you!’). Groceries can be delivered in as little as an hour. These are some of the stores you can shop at using, Instacart: Kroger, Publix, Aldi, Sprouts, and Costco. They deliver from over 150 stores. It is free to download the app, create an account, shop and schedule a delivery time.
The delivery fees start at $3.99 and can increase during peak shopping times. Instacart allows the usage of coupons depending on the store.
2. Shipt
Shipt is like Instacart in that all you must do is pick the items you want from the app. Then, a personal shopper will deliver the items right to your doorstep within an hour window. The app is available for Androids and iPhones through the app store. (see image below)
You can also access this service online through their website. (see image on the right below) Get started by entering your zip code to find your nearest store that the app serves. Shipping is free for orders over $35.
