Older Americans Month 2019 – That’s a Wrap!

On May 7^th, we gathered with over 80 others at the High Museum of Art to share food, drinks, and conversations about how we can reimagine aging in our own lives and across our region.

Throughout the month, RSVP volunteers were out in the community teaching classes about health management, access to services, and healthy sexuality. They also participated in fairs and festivals across the region, including the Aging Well Expo in downtown Atlanta on May 14^th.

Empowerline staff also volunteered their time with partner organizations on May 15^th and 20^th, packing meals at Open Hand Atlanta and helping distribute food at an Atlanta Community Food Bank pantry. Photos from their volunteer shifts are in this post’s album.

Older Americans Month encourages a month-long celebration of the contributions, value, and lives of all older Americans. While #OAM19 has wrapped up, every day is an opportunity to celebrate older people in our own lives. The next Older Americans Month will take place in May of 2020. Until then, I hope you continue to acknowledge and support older people in your lives every day.
