Continuing education provides opportunities for older adults to engage in stimulating activities and post-secondary educational opportunities after they have left the formal education system. These opportunities, which could be formal classes, lectures, seminars, or similar types of educational programs designed to increase skills and knowledge, typically provide part-time or short-term courses. “Continuing education” is a broad concept which includes learning opportunities in a variety of subject matter beyond basic literacy skills.
